I've been sharing some of my experiences with Mike and Lynn. Transcript
below. It also looks like I've blown my SST DoM during trials of WP jumper
which involved soldering. It can be partitioned, formatted etc. But during
LEAF loading it says "hdc: lost interrupt".

Dear Mike/Lynn/Brad:

I soldered a jumper on my SST DoM. I expected it to give me a mounted as
readonly filesystem message when it is mounted. It did not. I saved a file
to that fs by piping output of ls to a file. That also went thro'. I was
puzzled. I then tried an explicit sync - Module reported an error

No DRQ after issuing write.
Status error status=0x51 (DriveReady SeekComplete error)
Status error status=0x04 (DriveStatusError)

This make the drive read only but looks convoluted. Does it not?

I removed the jumper and did a sync, it went thro' smoothly.

I expected the system to report readonly at mount time like it does for
write-protect floppies.

Any other experiences?

Mohan

I've also been looking at SBC/Boxes to run LEAF. Particular interest was for
HW where we can plug in and plug out CF cards without opening the box.
GCTGLOBAL/ALLWELL has a box where the casing has a slot to plug in a CF into
a CF-IDE drive mounted inside the set top box. All associated data also
given below.
Dear Mr.. Mohan,

Thank you for interested in our products.
For building a Router,STB3036-CF is often used by our current customer.
STB6086N should be good also due to it's higher MHz.
Both are bootable from CF, since modulator is IDE connection. I have both
price for your comparison.
STB3036N-CF w/266MHz,64MB SDRAM,CF Modulator,1NIC...US$264 *(+$10 for
additional NIC)
STB3036N-CF w/667MHz,64MB SDRAM,CF Modulator,2NIC...US$299

We have office in Taiwan ,but handling most of OEM account there. For your
reference, the shipping cost for one STB is $60
Please let me know if I can assist you for ordering.

B/R,

Albert Ho

Nagasaki has an interesting box http://www.nagasaki.com.tw. MS-2300LLL Geode
based with 3LAN cards and CF reader on board. Neatly packaged as a book
PC.Disadvantage is that we need to open the box to plug in the CF.
