I'm moving to a new place that has "structured wiring", meaning that there's a fuse-box like enclosure from which Cat-5 wiring goes to sockets throughout the place, and that phone and cable wiring from outside go into the enclosure.
It's the obvious place to put my LEAF firewall/router -- but that's currently running on a machine many times larger than the roughly 10"x8"x2.5" space available within the enclosure. And since the box is located high on a wall in a closet, it's awkward to run cables outside it to a router nearby. I really ought to find something that will run LEAF and fits inside the enclosure (along with a modem and a hub...) It looks as if there are a number of all-in-one board, e.g. in the pc104 form factor, built for the embedded market that ought to work. I have no experience in this area, but gather that's not the case for some of you. Anyone care to recommend something? Bonus points if there's a way to buy a single unit (as so many of these are sold by the thousands.) BTW, a friend pointed me at http://www.soekris.com/ . Any experience specifically with them?
