Nick (and anyone else interested): Since I have been messing with EigersteinB2 for the last several days, and with help from several on this list, got it working to my satisfaction, I couldn't leave well enough alone.
I decided to try Dachstein pr3. It produced the same error message mentioned in the subject line of this message, until I did what you suggested in /etc/services, that is, add "imap" as an alias on the imap2 lines. That, again, seems to have solved the problem. For what it's worth ...
