Haven't been following this thread but just thought I would poke my head in here because I use a fa311 on my external connection and a Intel or 3com (I forget, because I keep changing configurations) on my internal net.
When I was using Eigerstein I could never get it to come up on a boot. It appeared that everything was working and that the fa311 card was configured but it wouldn't allow pings to the external network. I used to have to kill the dhclient on eth0 and just bring it back up by right clicking and highlighting the previous dhclient command from a ps ax. Then all was well until the next reboot (which was not often so I never investigated the problem). However, since installing Dachstein CD I have re-booted many times through the installation process and EVERY time I have re-booted the card came up fine. Don't exactly know what changed but it is much better.
