You are right.  Too much work, I'm afraid.  And since they seem to just break
out into sed song from line 143 to the end of the "auto" script, it is quite a
good possibility that they will try to get creative with that part down the
road and leave us stranded at version 1.96.

I am going to try to do this.  I think I am mostly done.  Any advice on getting
rid of the "expr" commands that are doing math?
