I am running a Bering firewall (1.0-rc1)with a dynamic external ip, a local net, and a (currently unused) DMZ. I am running a webserver on my local net. My goal is to run it on the DMZ, but more about that later...
Problem one: Other PCs on the local net can't browse the web server unless I change the port it listens on to 8080 (or anything higher than the privaleged ports I imagine). My understanding is that the firewall (Shorewall) wouldn't limit activity with in a zone (i.e. between machines on the local net) so is this even a firewall issue? Problem two: To open up the web server to the world, I added the following line to the Shorewall Rules file: ACCEPT net loc:192.168.1.2:8080 tcp 8080 - all Can I test this from a local machine, or do I need to have some one outside browse it for me? When I try to access my ip (24.218.101.162:8080) I get "The connection was refused when attempting to contact ..." I CAN ping the web server; I CAN access the internet from the web server; and I CAN access the server from itself. I've looked at all the docs, and I think I've tried everything, but obviously I'm missing something... I also had problems changing the port that the weblet runs on so my server can use port 80, but I'll worry about that later... thanks. ===== ------------------------- Mr Lauren Commons DISCLAIMER: The opinions expressed ARE in fact those of my employer. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
