Hello All,

I am new to the list and leaf. I recently purchase a
thin client (XL 1000) see
http://www.computer-show.com/Modern/itemdesc.asp?CartId=242150STGZV10&ic=SYS028&tpc=
which I would like to run linux on. It is basically a
i386 machine with a 64m disk-on-chip and built in
ethernet. I understand the latest version of bering
includes drivers to recognize the DoC and I will start
playing with if I can get it to work.

I want to setup this box to be a headless server that
includes samba client, java runtime, sendmail, dhcp,
telnet server, and vnc. I know most of these package
exist for red hat debian, etc. Can I use them on a
LEAF system ? I like the idea of having everything on
the ramfs, less writes to my DoC.

Is possible to put my leaf image (in the case Bering)
on my FAT format DoC and have my system boot from it ?
Is it easy to take .rpm files and convert them to .lrp
files ?

Or should I format the DoC with a linux filesystem and
use it for storage of my LEAF image ?

Thanks in advance for your time.
David
