Brock, We have been using the Orinoco 8.10 firmware with RH7.2, as well as Bering Beta4 and RC2 without any problems related to the firmware (that we know of).
We do not use power management features, so I can't offer suggestions in that regard, but I am curious why you would want it. In our case we specifically disabled power management features in the BIOS. As for firmware releases, you can find the older releases at ftp://ftp.wavelan.com/pub/software/ORiNOCO/PC_Card/Firmware/. I usually watch www.orinocowireless.com for new releases. I have not tried a downgrade, but the way the firmware upgrade utility normally works, I would be surprised if this was a problem. In case you haven't tried this yourself... firmware upgrades must be done using a Windows driver and OS. BTW, we have had a few hiccups with wireless transmissions using RC2 that seem to go away when using Beta4. Have you seen any similar strange behaviours? We suspect antenna alignment issues may be at least partly to blame (this is a 3km outdoor point-to-point link) so we are looking into that at the moment. Hope this helps...
