Michael - I am reading through ipfilter.conf and just realized that this is my own IP address... <grin>
It makes sense, but yeah, I feel pretty silly... [ snip ] Now, to change the subject, I was going through the archives and saw that you also had comments on the mailonerr utility. I also read the following thread and got to Greg Morgan's mini-HOWTO on mail. I get lost at his point 7 and from there it seems like he is trying to keep track of his dynamic ip address rather than have his log emailed to him. http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg06764.html So, given this sample script of moe.config file from steinkuhler.net: # User to run program as su_usr=root # Program to run cmd="do_something param1 param2 ..." # Person to mail results mailto="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" # Subject of mail message subject="Important message from LRP" # Include system details (free mem/disk) yes/no details=no # Mail always (yes) or only on error (no) mailalways=yes What am I supposed to put in the "cmd=" section. I am not clear on this. I typed in "mail -a /var/log/messages", as well as several other guesses, but when I run "mailonerr moe.config", I get the following types of email sent to me: Mon Jun 3 16:00:33 UTC 2002 Command: mail -a /var/log/messages Exit Status: 1 StdOut: Usage: /usr/bin/basename options to[,...] Options: [-s subject] [-c cc[,...]] [-b bcc[,...]] [-a attachment[,...]] [-d domain] [-h smptserver] Mail settings are in /etc/POSIXness.conf -a attach text file(s) -d specify from FQDN, overriding local domain -h specify SMTP server, overriding the MAIL_SERVER setting ErrOut: Basically, I am looking to have my logs e-mailed to me once a week or whenever a sever error occurs. I have loaded "su" as well and have confirmed that the mail command works. I just want it automated now if possible. Should I use Chuck's mailstat.lrp package? Any thoughts/help appreciated. Thanks. _______________________________________________________________ Don't miss the 2002 Sprint PCS Application Developer's Conference August 25-28 in Las Vegas -- http://devcon.sprintpcs.com/adp/index.cfm ------------------------------------------------------------------------ leaf-user mailing list: [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/leaf-user SR FAQ: http://leaf-project.org/pub/doc/docmanager/docid_1891.html
