I haven't seen this exact error, but it sounds like you may have gotten your system confused about floppy disk size (ie 1440K vs 1680K or similar). Did you do something like migrate a 1680K image to a 1440K disk? Do the floppy format and boot= settings in syslinux.cfg (also in /proc/cmdline) match?
