Thank you for the response. Yes, I knew the IP command I needed; I even knew I could
manually add it to one of several startup scripts. However, with a network
configuration script that seems to do everything but walk the dog automatically, I
assumed that there would be a way to do it from there. I wanted to make sure that I
was doing it the Dachstein Way(TM).

I don't know...you're asking for a command to change the MTU, but
indicating you have already changed it manually, so apparently you
already know how.
