I am speculating that there is either a
problem with the package implementation
i.e. the correct directories--queue, lock--do not exist, etc.
possible problem with a backup of the package
based on the above googling the package was compiled on one library
and being run on another leaf distro with other C libraries
the user ids and group ids don't match what is compiled in the leaf
qmail package.
Jacques Nilo provides some good documentation. Please look at the
qmail2 link below. It appears that the qmail package needs more care
and feeding than other leaf packages. The package could be working
properly, but you have not set up all the correct user ids etc that are
