Isn't there a place to enter a domain suffix within the DNS setup page? I don't know if this will fix anything....it is a WAG based on some of my previous experience with Win2k/XP. Personally, I haven't run into this "lag" in the DNS resolution myself (rather other problems in the same low-level core).
