Check out http://leaf.sourceforge.net/devel/jnilo/bubooting.html#AEN1155 and read about using a lrpkg.cfg file instead of PKGPATH. (Even though lrpkg.cfg is described in the CD-ROM booting docs, it's not boot-media specific.)
