Hello,

first of all, thanks to the authors for Bering. Great stuff (only
suggestions are to include other useful stuff, e.g. ifconfig.lrp or a tiny
ftp client, in the extra packages area).

I've been trying to use Bering (kernel 2.4.18) to set up a firewall that
connects a private home LAN to a PPPoE ADSL connection with Telecom Italia
(the main provider in Italy).

Everything works fine, except that I have problems with MTU settings. To
make everything work I have to ensure that the MTU of all packets that go
through ppp0 is set to 1452. AFAIK this should be accomplished by the -m
flag on the <<pty "pppoe...>> statement in /etc/ppp/peers/dsl-provider, but
it doesn't work. I've also tried manually the command specified in
http://www.netfilter.org/documentation/HOWTO/netfilter-extensions-HOWTO-4.html#ss4.6
(with --set-mss 1412) but no result. But if I manually change the MTU value
on the interfaces of the PCs on the internal LAN, everything works fine.

So I'm just wondering whether the tcp-MSS patch is actually included in the
Bering kernel, or whether is there any extra module I should install and
load (I looked in the Bering modules download site on sourceforge but didn't
find anything).

Thanks,
