"Delay loop" is a short little do-nothing loop that lets the kernel delay
for a very short period of time... one that is too short to schedule a
wakeup to resume. "Calibrating" means correlating the length of time each
loop corresponds to, so that when a kernel driver asks for 10us the delay
subroutine knows how many times to go through the loop.
Knowing that, there is a key piece of hardware that has to be working in
order to accomplish this task... and possibly a low-tech fix (think
"battery"). If that doesn't do it, and the BIOS doesn't provide any
clues for enabling/disabling the hardware, then you may need a new
motherboard.
