so, i was doing some looking on the web, and i quess it does matter where
the append line is, so i changed it, and syslinux.cfg became:

I believe having the append line at the end of the file is the canonical way, you may want to address the syslinux mailing list for details.

even if it is, any ideas what is going on when the "append=" line is added
befor the "deafult linux" line?

This is something the syslinux guys will know.
