What are the error messages? <shift>+PgUp
Most likely places to find the package problems are lack of the
package in the lrcfg backup menu (not loaded ...nf!), /var/log/messages,
and /var/log/kern.log

Doesn't sound as if one or more packages were found on your disk at boot.
