Hi, I've been asked to look into getting video/audio conferencing working to very remote sites. I'm looking at gatekeepers and the conntrack and NAT modules for IPTables. We will probably use MSN Messenger (yuck) and/or MS NetMeeting (slightly less yuck)
ip_conntrack_h323.o and ip_nat_h323.o don't support H323 Gatekeepers, so I can't NAT one behind Bering. But what if I ProxyARP'd one of our public IPs through to a gatekeeper? Then there would be not NAT'ing, right? It means using up an IP but we have a stack of them just sitting around. But, here's another thing. We tested this between the office and one of our homes. Here, we have Bering 1.2 with none of the *_H323.o modules installed (yet), at the other end is a mid-range Belkin DSL NAT/firewall device. If we requested the audio connection, it fails. If they request the audio connection, it works. How come H323 connections correctly pass through the Belkin router? We're sure that UPnP is disabled on the Belkin, although I can't verify that personally. Thanks!
