Hallo,
I've have a problem with my Bering 1.2 network configuration and hope all of you can help me.
I've configure my Bering Box like this:
/etc/network/interfaces address 192.168.2.65 masklen 24 gateway 192.168.2.1
/etc/network/options ip_forward=yes spoofprotect=yes syncoockies=no
/etc/hosts 127.0.0.1 localhosts 192.168.2.65 phuoc
/etc/hostname phuoc
/etc/network/interfaces nameserver 127.0.0.1 nameserver 217.237.150.97
/etc/hosts.allow ALL: ALL
it's working fine with this network configuration.
my problem ist if I change to another NET with IP: 10.0.0.65 and gateway 10.0.0.100
/etc/network/interfaces address 10.0.0.65 masklen 24 gateway 10.0.0.100
/etc/network/options ip_forward=yes spoofprotect=yes syncoockies=no
/etc/hosts 127.0.0.1 localhosts 10.0.0.65 phuoc
/etc/hostname phuoc
/etc/network/interfaces nameserver 127.0.0.1 nameserver 217.237.150.97
/etc/hosts.allow ALL: ALL
I just can ping out but I can conntect to external server. If I try to connect for examples with www.google.de I will get a connection timeout.
I'm very confused now.... does someone have any idea what my problem is?
I assume you meant to write that you "cannot connect to external server", not that you "can conntect". And since the "external server" you use as an example has a name that begins in www, I assume "connect" means make a Web (port 80) connection. But you can ping that **same** server. (You should be able to ping it. I can.)
If any of these interpretations is wrong, please post again, describing what does and does not work more exactly. If I am right ... my immediate thought is that there is nothing wrong with your setup, but the gateway on the second network (10.0.0.0/24) blocks direct access to the Web, instead requiring use of a proxy server. Ask that network's sysadmin.
Or try testing with a greater variety of services ... try ftp, ot telnet, or ssh, or smtp, or ntp, or whatever is convenient for you to try. (Does DNS work? I'd guess it does, since you get "connection timeout" rather than a DNS error like "www.google.de could not be found". And you say you are using an Internet nameserver, not a local one. So apparently at least DNS queries go out and back.)
And confirm that you can ping any server that you cannot reach with another service.
If it's not a proxy-server issue, more information about what specific services do and do not work will help narrow the field down.
PS - 127.0.0.1 is conventionally "localhost", not "localhosts". But that should have nothing to do with your immediate problem.
