The latest madwifi.lrp and hostapd.lrp packages are compiled against the current madwifi-ng code (modules can be found in the 2.4.32 tarball). You need to run the latest modules to make this work, mixing madwifi-old with madwifi.lrp and hostapd.lrp won't.
