You can find my original HOWTO on booting Bering directly off 
a CD-ROM using isolinux here:

Even though these instructions are a bit out of date, they can 
be used to create a proper setup. Just use a initrd cdrom enabled
and you'll be fine.

However, this approach has some minor drawbacks in which there
are some BIOS that can't deal with booting El-Torito boot
sectors (which is the method I'm using here).

Therefore as some of the Bering-uClibc Team members could not
effectively use the isolinux booting method, the change to
1.44 floppies was made.

Personally I kinda lost interest is using CD-ROM to boot as
all my firewalls now use CompactFlash technology.

What I can do probably (but not right away) is make a small
addenda to my original HOWTO, supporting all changes that were
made to Bering-uClibc and that affect boot.
