Hi Folks -- I am exploring the best method for doing traffic analysis on
or through my LEAF routers. I have two bering-uclib routers running
current versions of LEAF, booting off compact flash cards. I am
exploring tools like iptraf, pmacct, ntop and nprobe trying to develop a
solution to:
1) account for traffic by user over extended periods of time. For
example, I want to bill users who exceed certain usage levels.
2) enable notifications when traffic on a certain vlan or in specific
situations goes over a certain level. Perhaps interfacing with my
Nagios monitor?
3) do traffic analysis over time (review history). But I would prefer
to store summary data rather than massive db's of every packet.
I would love to hear from anyone who has something working that meets
some or all of my needs and is willing to share how they did it.
Many thanks,
Art
