I haven't done that myself, but I believe, if you follow the advices for CD 
usage and replace /dev/fd0 with PKGPATH=/dev/sda1:msdos (or whereever it is 
mounted) it will be a start. 
You also need an initrd with IDE/CDROM and USB modules.
