Boot Fails using Bering-uClibc 3.1-beta1 - iso CD image

Syslinux 3.2 loads linux and initrd.lrp.
Booting continues until LINUXRC attempts to load packages.

 >LINUXRC: Installing - root(nf!), anything(nf!)

Fallback attempt - get packages from empty floppy drive
also Fails. Nothing found.

 >kernel Panic! line 277: Can't open root.dev.own

A previous post suggested to start with a floppy based system and see
if I can mount the CD.

--Test CD support by mounting from Floppy Boot --- Fails -----

Create and boot Bering-uClibc_3.1beta1_img 1680K floppy image. Success!

Delete ReadMe and ppp.lrp to free up space.
Overwrite initrd.lrp on floppy with initrd_ide_cd.lrp from CD release.

Reboot floppy.
During boot I see:

 >Uniform Multi-Platform E-IDE driver Revision: 7.00beta4-2.4
 >ide: Assuming 33MHz system bus speed for PIO modes; override with
 >idebus=xx
 >ide2: ports already in use, skipping probe

But unfortunately it doesn't find any drives.

lsmod lists:
 >ide-cd, ide-core, ide-detect, ide-disk, cdrom, isofs, vfat

Any suggestions on where to go from here?
