i don't think this is the same ...
my leak doesn't manifest as an increase in pluto's used memory, it's
just a decrease in free memory.

I don't think this is the same problem.
I don't actually see increase in memory usage in userspace (pluto).
I think it must be a kernel leak  in KLIPS.

maybe we don't have the same problem after all?
