Harry, What module are you trying to insert? I successfully added the GeoIP module with patch-o-matic into the buildtool environment. I've not made any other changes.
There are some glitches though. My first intent was to recompile iptables alltogether and update to version 1.3.8. This appeared to work at first but I discovered that none of the NAT modules functioned afterwards. I reran the the whole project on the default buildtool version and only used the newly added module from the result. I've got this running with 3.1beta for about a month now.
