Depends.
If you save configdb.lrp you do have a documentation of your current config, 
plus you can reuse a lot of config files.
The most important config files to look after are from shorewall.

(I've added my 3.1 configdb.lrp to my 4.0 setup and had most packages working 
out of the box - the remaining needed some patience :))
