Here is just a snippet from the net

arch/x86/Kconfig

The configuration item CONFIG_X86_ELAN:

    prompt: AMD Elan
    type: tristate
    depends on: CONFIG_X86_32
    defined in arch/x86/Kconfig
found in Linux Kernels: from 2.6.4 release still available on 2.6.38
release

Help text

Select this for an AMD Elan processor.

Do not use this option for K6/Athlon/Opteron processors!

If unsure, choose "PC-compatible" instead.

cheers

Erich
