Hello, I managed to track down the problem. It seems if you want to run WPA with AES you need to load the module aes_generic. We probably want to update the bering 4.0 doco here: https://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/leaf/index.php?title=Bering-uClibc_4.x_-_User_Guide_-_Advanced_Topics_-_Setting_Up_a_Wireless_Access_Point to show this as I imagine it will bite many users. If someone gives me edit permissions on this page of the wiki I can add it and some ath9k info. My sourceforge user = trevelyon.
Here's some other info on ath9k cards on hostapd. #2 drove me crazy for a while. 1. My n-mode performance is terrible (worse than g) and very unreliable (lots of hiccups). 2. If in /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf I set ht_capab to include either [HT40-] or [HT40+] it appears to clients as a WEP enabled router instead of a WPA/WPA2 one. A rather nasty bug IMO. Thanks to Juergen for sending his config.
