I am using gurb as well. Except I have gurb in /dev/[hs]da1 (32M), leaf v4.1-b2 in /dev/[sh]da2 (64M) and leaf v3.1.x in /dev/[sh]da3, etc. I also use ext2 instead of vfat and to do that I had to add mbcache.ko and ext2.ko to initrd.lrp.
