Hey folks -- I run a wireless ISP, and I've been using LEAF Bering for many
years to manage multiple networks. Each router has a mix of public and
private IP subnets. I have about 6 PC based routers as gateways for
networks in 4 counties in Western NC.

Recently, I updated 2 of my older routers to LEAF 5.0.x. One old router
was running Version 3 something, and one was running 4. After the update,
there have been a couple of strange things I have not been able to resolve.
Behind one router, a customer was running a business-grade DMX Pandora
streaming device. This device was working fine, and required no special
port forwarding -- it was just running behind the customer's Linksys router
with a private IP on the WAN port. However, after swapping for the LEAF 5
router, the device stopped working and cannot register with its service.
 It supposedly needs ports 20, 21, 22, 80 443, and 5353 (UDP) to function.
I tried putting a public IP directly on the DMX device, bridging
everything to the LEAF router, and opening all Internet traffic to the
public IP. It still won't work. However, take the device to another
Internet connection and plug it in and it works fine. There is clearly
something it doesn't like about my LEAF 5 router. Note that I have 500
customers behind this LEAF router and no other obvious problems.

Similarly, another customer on a different network has a Sonos Playbar that
was plugged in behind their standard router with a private IP. Worked fine
with the LEAF 3 router, but when I replaced that with the update LEAF 5
router, the Sonos stopped streaming Pandora. It is still connected to the
Internet, and will play tunes from Rhapsody, for example, but Pandora is
unavailable.

Anyone have any insight into this odd behavior? My understanding is that
Pandora traffic is just an http stream? Could there be some use of high
port numbers and some way LEAF 5 handles these differently?

Thanks,
Art Mandler
