You could achieve this with formatting strings. Since in such a
report the running total is now somewhat meaningless, you could set
the total column to be total cost, and the amounts column to be total
shares.
You'd do this in 3.0 (current 'master') as follows:
ledger -t amount -T cost reg invest
I hope to add a "two column" balance report, so that you could see
account totals for both amount and cost in the "bal" report too.
