Hi,

I am new to ledger and accounting as well.

I am confused by the output of register command. Let's assume this is my
ledger file:
2013-1-1 Opening Balance
  Account 10000
  Equity

2013-1-2 Yogurt
  Expense:Food 100
  Account

The register command gives the following output:
13-Jan-01 Opening Balance Account 10000
10000
                                Equity
-10000 0
13-Jan-02 Yogurt Expense:Food
100 100
                                Account
-100 0

However, I fail to appreciate the last column. What is its purpose?
I was expecting the running total column to show me the current balance for
that account.
Something like:
13-Jan-01 Opening Balance Account 10000
10000
                                Equity -10000 *
-10000*
13-Jan-02 Yogurt Expense:Food
100 100
                                Account -100
*9900*

Is there a way to get that info in the register output?

Thanks,
Harshad
