Thanks for the feedback. Nothing is messed up, because it looks like that
on my system as well (using ledgersmb.css in my preferences). However, I
use 'ledgersmb-blue.css' myself -- which doesn't exhibit this behaviour.
I'll put this on my TODO list to see what is causing the difference and
what should be changed to increase the contrast.
