As a note I seem to have replied off-list.
All inventory/cogs is currently calculated FIFO. One of the big things in
1.4 is that this is moved to stored procedures. This makes it easier for
someone to replace it with another method, and ti also allows full
separation of duties for inventory-affecting transactions.
