Not sure of the "capture" area of the UK but i got myself a Dreambox. Here in the middle of the Med, we are bang centre of all the Euopean/ Middle East/
N African beams.

For an inital outlay of around €500 (including a 1.2m dish) and a €25 euros a month subscription, I get:

- Sky UK (including ITV1)
- Setanta Ireland
- Sky Germany
- Sky Italy
- Orbit Showtime
- Al Jazeera
- Canal + France and Spain

and loads of others, including a Czech channel which show a 3pm Satdi Championship match every week.

Latest count is about 900 channels including virtually any match being telvised around the world, including every single EPL match.

I don't have Sky at home and I just go to the pub whenever there is a game that I'm desperate to watch (i.e. Leeds games and competitive England and Republic of Ireland games). I'm not bothered about any other live games on Sky.

The amount I have to spend on drink to justify being in the pub during these games is less than having to subscribe to Sky at home, so this works for me.

sad but true. Sky subs are blooming expensive, but for Rugby League and footie you've just got to do it. Yep, loads of rubbish, but Freeview - in Yorkshire reception is currently pants all over the place, and given we don't go Digital till 2012 if you want a half-decent pic it's gotta be done. Other Freeview negative is you get Geordie-vision News - great if you want to hear about a wheelie bin on fire behind Durham Bus Station or some big biffa eating 18 fried Mars Bars, but knack all use for anything else!

Not wishing to start any sort of camel/curry/bates list war but I think sky is brilliant.

I have had it since 1991 and have no complaints.

Sure there is a lot of channels irrelevant to me but I can choose comedy music sport kids tv DIY holiday art stuff and so on whenever I want night or day, a can now record it too!

The 5 terrestrial channels mean I have to pretty much watch what some people in an office want me to watch. No rewind, no pause, no recording. 90% of the progs are rubbish

Freeview changes this a little and is a welcome limited step. Freesat is a good product too, virgin is ok but its a closed system that is playing catch up.

There is noting to rival sky.

If you are prepared to pay 20p for shite, I can organise a regular supply for you. I'll even knock the price down to 15p (plus p & p). Send me your address, and I can start sending the shite to you right away. I'll give you my bank details and you can pay at the end of the month.

I think £50 a month for 900 channels of shite is quite reasonable, works out about 20p a channel.. As for watching england, i wouldn't watch those wankers if they were playing in my back garden
