I believe it's all about sales figures for the replica kits. That's the reason they change the kits so bleedin' often, and that's why they keep trying colours that they feel people will be happy to wear as casual clothes - hence the pale blues and blacks, which go well with jeans. Also why they shy away from the yellows, which are a tough wear on non-match days...
