This letter was inspired by my Mum's upcoming stone setting.We are finalising the inscription. The Leeds Rabbi 'decided' my granddad was a Rabbi.We come from a respected learned family... so the Rabbi decided. Like hell we did. In actual fact we were horse thieves cum smugglers on the Polish German border. Of that I am real proud. I don't think even Bill Gates managed such an unbelievable upgrading process. 'Dadda ' must be pissing himself right now. My granddad was a right lad. Always fooling around and taking the piss in the synagogue. Always laughing. Liked everyone, had a real soft heart. One evening he befriended some poor homeless workers. So he let them sleep the night at his house. The next day they were all arrested as they were IRA . I doubt if Dadda even knew what that was. Knowing him he asked them to make up a hands for a game of cards. Happy days.
