My theory, which admittedly is very thin at both ends.... Ken's "owned" Leeds United for over 7 years now, and that's plenty of time for his tendrils of complexity to get everywhere and very twisty turny. Proper Due Diligence might well need another 7 years to unravel it all. I read today that "the consortium are believed to be looking for full ownership of Leeds, purchasing all of the 72.85 per cent stake held by existing owner Ken Bates, and it is anticipated that their proposal would see Bates sever his ties with United after seven-and-a-half years as chairman." I guess that If they want Ken to sever all ties, they don't want him to be sneakily still owning something after the deal is done... say for example, the ground. So who owns the ground? That question, phrased that why, just seems to plant visions of Abbott & Costello in my head.
Due Diligence Committee: Well then who owns the ground? Ken Bates: Yes. DDC: I mean the fellow's name. KB: Hu. DDC: The owner of the ground. KB: Hu. DDC: The ground owner. KB: Hu. DDC: The person owning... KB: Hu owns the ground! DDC: I'm asking YOU who owns the ground. KB: That's the man's name. DDC: That's who's name? KB: Yes. DDC: Well go ahead and tell me. KB: That's it. DDC: That's who? KB: Yes. PAUSE I never thought Abbott & Costello were very funny. --- If I'd really put a proper effort into this email, I'd have had HU or WHO being the initials for some shady Bates Ground Owning Company. Couldn't think of anything though. JB -----Original Message----- Message: 5 Date: Thu, 9 Aug 2012 14:23:53 +0100 From: Nigel Barber <ni...@mindbrix.co.uk> Ramadan, shmadadan. More Bates bullshit. No doubt he fed the story to a friendly journalist then retired to his Monaco apartment to have a good laugh at the gullible suckers. _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org PETE CASS (1962 - 2011) Rest In Peace Mate
