I'm particularly sad when I remember Albert Johansen & the awful price he paid
for being a pioneer persecuted for being different.

Was Albert really persecuted ?
I'll have to go back and read up on that again.
He had a very difficult time, and his story is a personal tragedy, and they
were difficult times to be a black South African player, but was he persecuted
?
As a kid I only realised that he was black when they said so on the TV before
the 1965 cup final. Before that he was just foreign and maybe a bit exotic.
Quite exciting really, especially as a winger.
Most of all he was a Leeds player and a good one at that.
So, was he persecuted ?
A fair question, I hope.
