Hi all,

got a macbook that won't boot.

It loads Disk Utility and I have run verify on the partitions.

When I run it on OS X Base System it's fine, but the partition "diskOs2"
fails the verification and also the repair with "Invalid record count" and
states the drive needs reformatting and reinstalling, this leads me to
believe the physical disk is probably OK, but the OS. tables or Boot records
etc are trashed. There is data on it I'd like to get off, but my normal
method of booting up Linux diesn't work. I'm a newbie won this so what
options do I have? external caddy and connect to another OSX machine? I
have read about a firewire connection option. any advice appreciated.

as far as the users is aware there are no backups available

ttfn

Richard
