Yep Dave agreed. I suppose I was stating the bleeding obvious but wasn't
actually blaming anyone for the current situation. Thinking about it a bit more
I think the new recruits are a worry. Off the ball they really didn't know what
to do and looked a bit lost. On the ball, most were fine and one or two showed
real promise. How can someone like The Hock blend these players together and
make a promotion challenging team. I think its the biggest ask for many a year
but if anyone is going to do it , The Hock can.

The worry I have is that current crop may take more time and patience than
we've got. Will Hock go with the tried and tested (and failed) Murphy, Austin,
Warnock, Smith, Tonge, Hunt combination or will he go for the new uns.

I think in all the recent years I've been watching Leeds I don't think I've
ever seen such a disjointed team. Lots of individuals , some who are actually
decent footballers but do they have what it takes in the Championship. I'm not
sure.

And in another post states that we are not a team - whilst I agree with that
assessment , what do you expect ? 7 of the team yesterday were starting their
first or second game for the club - Taylor, Taylor, Berardi, Cook, Bianchi,
Ajose and Doukara.  Even though Pearce has played a decent number of games he
has only partnered Wooton a few times, Smith and Tonge the other two who have a
number of games under their belts for us were paired / partnered with players
they have never played with before.
If you took the best player in the world in each position and threw them
together they would look great players but not a great cohesive team - I am
sure lots of mistakes would be made. The lower down you go the worse the
players are and the longer it takes to gel , a couple of times last night Cook
played what looked from the stand to be a good ball, and the right one, but the
other player did not read it. Hopefully this will come with time on the pitch
together , most partnerships take some time to work together as players get to
read each others games and have an idea what runs etc their team mates will
make.
It could be even worse on Saturday if the two centre backs both play (plus
Sharp ?)- we could conceivably have 9 players all with less than 3 games in a
Leeds shirt -that is why I asked for patience, I get that after 10year of total
dross patience is in short supply but to me, a number of the players yesterday
gave me hope that they could be decent but they need TIME

Re Billy Sharp - pre game myself and my mate agreed that we quite liked
Cellinos transfer policy - getting young players on 2/3 year contracts or one
year loans with option to buy. We agreed that his reported comment about Sharp
"how old is he, 28, too old, he will not get any better, we will not sign him"
was about right. Yes we need a goal scorer to replace Ross and Morison, Smith,
Hunt, Ajose and Doukara are probably not individually 20+ goals a season
players but a 28 year old journeyman, not for me, stick with the getting young
hungry players only please.

(I do of course reserve the right to laud Billy Sharp as the greatest ever and
a brilliant signing if he comes and starts banging them in !)

I note that Doukara scored the first with his right and the second with his
left and both were good strikes so that is promising in itself, hate seeing a
striker missing a chance cos it is on 'his wrong foot' and he either messes
about trying to get it onto his right foot or scuffs it with his wrong one.
Is Doukara going to be a goal scorer ? Not sure, his early pass rather than
shoot suggests he is  a provider rather than a natural greedy goal poacher but
later on he did have a shot when someone was better placed because he wanted
his hat -trick so who knows

Dave
