I noticed on Tuesday that Liam Cooper was going up for all the corners and free kicks, so I thought the odds of 28/1 on him scoring first was worth a punt. And I got talking to a bloke who said that at every game for a while he's been betting for Leeds to win 3-1, but we never had, and today he wasn't sure whether he would bother. That had 'sods law' written all over it, as we were bound to win 3-1 if he didn't make the bet.
I decided to combine the two, which made it 205/1 for both things to happen. I was When we got the early corner I was of course watching Cooper, and when it was initially cleared he was on the verge of running back downfield, then decided to stay put when the ball came to Byram. And Byram passed to him and he hit it from outside the box, straight in! But by half time when we were 3-0 up I thought there was no way it was going to finish 3-1, and I was cursing myself for not just betting on Cooper for first goal, thinking I'd blown the £28 I would have won just for that. Even when Blackpool came forward in the second half they looked woeful and couldn't shoot straight, so it just seemed totally unreal when they scored with 13 minutes left. I still had the agony of six minutes of injury time while many others were drifting out without a care in the world, but all's well that end's well.
