Couple of things - when was the last time our centre halves got such praise '
if Pontus doesn't get you, Bartley will'
Of course it is too soon to say our corner / free kick problems are over - we
were saved by the post twice and Green looks suspect - but today and supposedly
in the last 2 games (especially Blackburn) we conceded a lot of corners and
dangerous free kicks and managed to deal with them one way and another.IF these
2 can be that solid week in week out (and not turn to shite if we actually sign
them!) then that is the base of a decent side.
I feel sorry for Wood (NB Sky it is Wood and not WoodS) - the stick he gets
from fans is in direct contrast to the praise he got (again) from the ex
players and 'experts' - Birtles and the other commentator, Prutts and Holloway
all said how well his overall game was, albeit he missed a couple when he got
into good positions but the fans still call him a lump of Wood despitethe fact
that  his goal scoring record for us, per minute etc, is more than decent. I do
get the criticism since he is ungainly etc but I think we need to give the lad
a break and give him credit for what he does well rather than stick for what he
does badly
For me today, O'Kane and Vieirra were both annonymous , though TV does not
always show how well a defensive midfielder does, and we gave the ball away
(Hernandez was another one guilty of this) much too often, and both Dallas and
Sacko need more and better end product. BUT we weathered a bit of a storm first
half and did a lot better second half and were 'worthy winners' as Dolly used
to say

Going forward we can build on this - get a rock solid defence sorted and the
pace and trickery of Sacko, Hernandez and hopefully Roofe, will cause teams
problems - we do look like  a team that will be better defending and hitting on
the break and that is probably why we are better away from home.
Another 3 points nearer to safety and even the papers may stop saying Monk is
one game away from the scak now (he is probably 3 games away !!)

definitely, Jannson the new Molenaar?

While the performance was pretty dire for most of the match, the players do
seem to be more confident in each other.  I think we need to give o'kane
more time he hasn't had a lot of match prective in the last 18 months.
Hernadez is definitely a luxury player at the moment, his goal was great but
that was about it from him, Viera was annoymous, but given we were without
Bridcutt, more to be happy about than usual on a matchday.
