I think it's a valid point Nick, I'm not convinced by BFP but he's a young lad
and deserves his chance. He made 3 great saves but as you say he doesn't look
confident on crosses and corners.
a few hungover points from me.
Fletcher got a point blank header against the bar , he was completely unmarked
and this just happens every game now, we have definitely taken a big step
backwards this year in our defensive approach.
Sunderland played with 2 tricky wingers who looked like world beaters up
against Dallas and Beradi, neither could cope. Dallas played as a wing back and
got into several good positions but just about every time he failed to deliver
with his cross. He is a very average player and I would be looking to offload
him this Summer.
I thought we shaded the first half and the second half could have gone either
way. It was a game of mistakes and poor play but this did lead to end to end
stuff and chances at both ends. We hit the bar twice second half, Siaz wuth a
great free-kick and Allioski with a header that was easier to score from a
great cross from Pablo who was showing Dallas how to do it. Pablo was everyway
but it's clear that if he doesn't score or create a wonder goal then we're
struggling. Siaz looked heavy legged to me and he kept losing the ball in
possession however he did have one good run and shot that their keeper saved
well.
So on to Beradi who got himself sent off for the 3rd time this season and I
thought back to his debut when he made a similar challenge in a similar place
on the pitch and it would seem to me that this lad doens't have a footballing
brain and he really is playing the wrong sport. I'm watching a bare knuckle
boxing series on Netflix at the moment and I think he should have a go at that.
I'm a bit fed up of the 'Beradi is committed' line now because he is just
losing us points.
Down to 10 men at home against the bottom of the league , Hecky sures up the
defence and takes Siaz off  (Anita on) who had just hit the bar and he told the
team to sit back, time waste and hold on to the 1-1 draw. Complete negativity.
I would have left it as it is, pushed Jansson up front and piled forwards for
the winner. If they broke and scored, so fucking what ? 1-1 feels like a defeat
anyway, do you think a defeat would be viewed any worse that 1-1 against the
bottom of the league. For me, that's a manager who is feeling the pressure but
a 1-1 today aint gonna relieve it !
On another day, we could have won 4-1 but then you could say it could have een
1-4. I think my overall summary would be that as a team we're not that much
better than Sunderland who have proved themselves as the worst team in the
league this season.
Scores:
BFP - 7. Three excellent saves but looks nervous on set pieces and I actually
think he could have done better with their goal despite it being hit hard.
Beradi - 4. I thought he struggled throughout and his tackle was just
brainless. That's his season over now.
Dallas - 5. As I said, got himself up and down but failed to deliver. Also he
is not even close to being a right back.
Jansson - 6. Some decent defending but also some desperate defending and as the
main defender I have to ask what is going on with all the free headers that the
opposition seem to be getting.
O'Connor - 6. For a debut I thought he did really well. He looks like he's got
a chance. His weakness seemed to be when he got caught one on one a few times
and he seemed a bit slow on the back foot, but apart from that I was fairly
impressed. O'Shaughnessy also looked good on his debut in this position and
quickly turned to shit so let's see how he fairs against Villa and Preston.
Philips - 3. Having praised him for his second half sub's performance at Fulham
, he was back to his awful worst yesterday. Pedestrian pace and getting outrun
and out muscled in midfield by journeymen midfielders. When he did find himself
in possession his passes were long and overhit. Total frustration watching him
yesterday.
Vierra - 6. Battled hard, unlucky with his chance first half and in general
looking a bit like the old Vierra.
Allioski - 5. Worked hard, ran hard but delivered very little and should have
scored.
Lasogga - 0. I cant really remember a single contribution from Lasogga. It was
clear to me from about the 15 minutes that he is not mobile enough or quick
enough to create space or chances for us. He just looks like a lard boy ,
puffing and panting around the pitch. I would have put Ekuban on much earlier.
Hernandez - 8. One man team at times and scored yet another goal from nothing.
He still frustrates me with stray passes every 1 in 3 times but given his
contribution this has to be overlooked.
Siaz - 6. For his high standards I thought he was poor yesterday. Didn't seem
to have that pace and acceleration when he needed it. Lost possession numerous
times but he still nearly came up with the winner.
Subs:
Ekuban - saw more of the ball than Lasogga did.
Anita - did his job as we parked the coach for the last 5 mins, much to the
annoyance of the mackems
Hecky - he's give some of the youngsters a go - I like that but what is his
style of play ? What has he improved ? The defence seems all at sea and there
doesn't look like any organisation to me. Midfield seems to rely on Pablo's
brilliance rather than having any cohesion and up front our attacking tactics
seem non existant. Who is Hecky ?

Being a bit devil's advocate but Farrell did not come out for one cross and
stayed on his line for every corner. If Wiedwald did that....

Berardi had been sent off and he needed to shore up the Defence.  We had
plenty of attacking players.

On the plus side Peacock-Farrell looks like a proper keeper and O'Connor didn't
do anything wrong.
