Another game where we could and should have had got something,  we definitely
deserved a point.
Unfortunately Calvert - Lewin despite good all round play turned into the "
can't hit a barn door" DCL that he was at Everton. Probably a bit ( lot?) harsh
on him but he really should have buried two chances.
We really went at them from the start and gave them a real scare - 2of theirs
being booked for time wasting says it all really. This was not the
comprehensive battering we suffered on their last two visits ( note to Jesse
marsch - a 4 nightmare defeat does not merit a lap of honour ) this was team
giving everything to try and compete with the very best, and for the most part
we did. We gave them a real game
If we play like this in our remaining games we are staying up.
Fair play to DF who seems to be learning every week, making changes to try and
change things and really going for it.  His righteous anger  at the ref was
echoed by 35,000 leeds fans singing "cheat cheat "
It is hard to be happy at a defeat but given I told my wife beforehand that I
would be OK as long as they did not get more than four,  a one nil defeat seems
OK, especially since we are actually better off than we were pre game, same gap
on Burnley with one more game gone, and same gap but a two goal better goal
difference than pre game on West ham , so all in all not to bad.
A special mention to Darlow ,like most fans ( and indeed the manager) I have my
doubts and concerns about him but he pulled off 2 great saves today , albeit
Ampadu nearly got him in trouble after the first with a strange and mad header
back to darlow who was still on the floor!
Their goal was the only time when they really cut us open credit to our
midfield and defence in largely keeping them quiet despite them having the
majority of possession
This was a game when we were unlikely to get any points but we acquitted
ourselves really well and hope it's a case of onwards and upwards with a
winnable game coming up on Tuesday,  let's hope there is enough left in the
tank
Great trip home on a train full of Everton fans on their way back from
Newcastle,  they gave me and my lad beers and plenty of banter , I even got a
small bottle of prosecco to take home to my wife ( and no the scousers had not
stolen them)
So all in all a decent day and a result that could have been much worse but
equally given the actual state of play could have been so much better.
All we need to do now is keep up these standards and make sure we win the games
we should win starting with Sunderland,. Now Man City is out of the way each of
our home games is winnable albeit I doubt we will actually win them all
