Key man to stay 28-06-2006 11:46 Leeds United coach John Carver has turned down the chance to take the helm at League One new-boys Carlisle United. The Cumbrians had targeted the 41-year-old to replace boss Paul Simpson, who joined Preston North End earlier in the month. Carver confirmed his decision following talks with Leeds boss Kevin Blackwell on Tuesday. He told the Yorkshire Evening Post:" Leeds had the decency to allow me to talk to Carlisle and I'm delighted with the way the two clubs have acted.
"I had to make a decision and on this occasion it's to stay at Leeds. I enjoyed last season, although it was disappointing how it ended, and we still have a job to do. I want to be a part of that." Blackwell said: "I'm always willing to give an opportunity to my staff to speak to someone else, but I'm delighted John sees his future at Leeds United." _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
