Didn't get there on Saturday for a variety of reasons but I must admit I was surprised that Moore had been left out in favour of Healey. Whenever Moore has played, whether from the start or as a sub, he has created problems for the opposition with his constant effort, his runs into space or to pull out markers and his closing down of defenders in possession at every opportunity. Although he is technically limited, at the level we are playing this makes him a much better bet than the more gifted Healey who does none of the above. Perhaps Wise thought that having been left out of the side would have given Healey a wake up call to start doing at least some of the things that Moore does or maybe he was hoping that a reasonable performance from Healey would bring in a bit more money for him in January so that he can spend it on other players. > His post-match interview really p*ssed me off. I don't think we should judge Wise by his public utterings, I'm sure his words to the players would be very different after the performance described by listers. Having done all the things to start with that we all wanted (getting rid of Butler, Gregan etc.), he does seem to have suddenly turned into a cockney Blackwell. I can't understand why he abandoned playing Lewis at LB in favour of Crainey, who IMO isn't as bad as he's sometimes painted but still isn't very good. Replacing Butler with a younger but less experienced version doesn't seem too clever either, nor playing Foxe as a very makeshift right-back. Surely the kid playing there for the reserves would have been a better bet. He might have made mistakes but would learn from them and become a better player in the long term as a result, a thing that is far too late for Foxe to do. One of the main reasons we have been so crap for a lot of the time this season though is the continuing poor form of Derry. When he was made vice-captain he seemed to improve, as did our form, but he seems to have slipped back again lately. The return of Nicholl can't come soon enough. It's too early to write Wise off just yet, but I too have question marks about him. His activities in January's transfer market will make or break our season. I wholeheartedly agree with the need for a change of attitude though. I get the feeling, rightly or wrongly, that they think "Well, we're in a bit of trouble but we'll get out of it. We're too good to go down". It was this kind of thinking by a lot of people in the club that saw us drop out of the Premiership. It's deja vu all over again. _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
