In some cases its been career threatening injuries have played a part (Jones), but Kewell, Carson & Milner have all basically flopped and not fulfilled their promise. Woody's been injured, but has still been kicked out from clubs pretty sharpish even when he's recovered - now the poor bugger's at Middlesbro, surely the elephants graveyard of clubs. Simon Johnson, Lee Matthews & Walton seem to have disappeared. I think Harte is still in Spain unable to get a game, Maybury's at Leicester I think. Who was that double-barrelled Oz lad who was always close to breaking into the first team and then just got offloaded?
Lennon, who's signed on for another 5½ years at Spurts could possibly be the exception, but to be honest I think like Wright-Phillips, he's just too lightweight for the modern game.
